Proud Daddy

April 20, 2008

Well all of you know that I am a proud Daddy of two youngins and today God just gave me another reason to brag. Most of you know that Justin is a junior at Winthrop with his major being Physical Education with a teacher’s certification. Today at the Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center the Distinguished Alumni in Physical Education held their awards breakfast and we were invited because Justin was receiving an award. He was awarded the Mary Wylie Ford award, this award is given in honor of the former chair of the Physical Education Department. Dr. Ford received her undergraduate degree in physical education from Winthrop. After teaching and earning both master’s and doctoral degrees, she returned to Winthrop as a member of the physical education department. She then became department chair, a position she held for more than 30 years. This award is given as a tribute to Dr. Ford’s professional service throughout her career and goes to a senior physical education major who demonstrates professional promise. Justin is the 16 student to receive this honor.

I sure am a proud Daddy from Possum Kingdom, this goes to prove that someone from Possum Kingdom can walk and chew chewing gum at the same time and spell.

Dr. Mary Wylie Ford and Justin
In closing one of Justin’s Professor’s gave him a complement that really made him shine. She said that when Winthrop was talking about becoming a co-ed campus she was dead set against it, she felt that it should always be a women’s only campus. She said that if she had known that it was going to bring young men there like Justin she would have always been for the idea.
OK my head has swollen and I have a tear in my eyes so I must go now.
Justin just know that God and all of your family are very proud of you and we love you!!!
Good Night and God Bless You,
Pel

Update From Our Tater Hill

April 10, 2008

Good Afternoon Everyone,

First of all I want to clear up something, Claire ask what I was talking about and I had to explain it to her last night and I got to thinking about it today and decided maybe I should explain it to you also. I won’t tell anyone if you did not get my joke either. Anyway what I am talking about is the comment I put in the last post “My mind is just too tired to share, well in other word you know me and know I don’t know nothing, the doctors are still trying to figure out what that dot was on the brain scan they ran.” OK it was a joke, me talking about the size of my brain, you know, like they ran a scan looking for my brain and all they saw was a dot!! It was a funny, so now laugh, but please don’t get mad at me. I was afraid some one would read it like Claire did and think I was talking about a spot on my brain, no my meaning was my brain was the size of a dot. I sure hope you understand and I hope one day Claire will get it also. So we all know now why I don’t write for the funny papers! HaHa Laugh with me now HaHa

Now this part is serious, Claire had her surgery today and all went well, I got her home already and she is settling back in my recliner. I think she is going to try to make me wait on her and I will hand and foot. She is on a long nap right now so I can get by with anything. I must go now and get her some drugs. Thanks for the prayers, visits and phone calls. You are too good to us. Our God is an Awesome God!!! Thank You God for the Answered Prayers!!

God Bless You,
Pel

Tater Hill News From Possum Kingdom

April 10, 2008

Hello Everybody,

Well things here in Possum Kingdom are SpRiNgInG right along!! I am not going to fill your minds with a wealth of information tonight and I know you are sad. My mind is just too tired to share, well in other word you know me and know I don’t know nothing, the doctors are still trying to figure out what that dot was on the brain scan they ran.

Anyway the past two week have been full for us out here on our tater hill. All last week I just sat at the house, not felling like doing nothing but was not sick, I call it fluid build up; some people call it fat and lazy. Then my darling wife, Claire became sick. I had to get her up and going so she could go to work and make some money. She tried real hard and she finally gave in. I don’t have to tell you about how hard headed an ole ER nurse is!! I knew she did not feel well, but when she told me she had an appointment with the doctor I knew she was really sick, like fill out part of the tomb stone kind of sick. Now that sickness has lead to surgery. She is going to be all right because she has got to get back to work, I might even sign her up for some over time!!

Please put Claire on your prayer list and ask God’s will to be with Claire, the surgeon and all the staff. I know I pick on my darling wife but she is so special to me and when she hurts I hurt so bad, I wish I could take her place on the operating table but I can’t. Please pray for Abigail as well, she told me that she had to be there with her Mama because she is always there when someone has surgery. I had to explain to her that she had to go on to school and then when she got home she is going to have to help take care of Mama. Please pray for Justin as well, as he is traveling on school business and he was going to cancel his trip when I called him and told him about Claire being sick. We have convinced him to continue on with his studies and everything will be fine here.

Thank you for your prayers,

God Bless You,

Pelham
